Airlines
Flybe - airline information
General information
Founded as "Jersey European Airways", the company started operating back in 1979 already. The company is one of Europe's most well known low cost airlines, it has a fleet of over 40 aircraft and 80 destinations are served throughout the continent. The name "Flybe" is rather new, it appeared in summer 2002, when the airline repositioned itself and decided to aim at the budget air travel segment exclusively. It was then when we can say, Flybe has become a low cost airline.
Fact sheet
Destinations
Relatively few destinations are served outside the UK, if we compare the carrier to other low fare airlines. Flybe also flies to Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.
Fleet
14 Embraer ERJ-195 planes were ordered in 2005 (these have already entered into service, replacing the BAe-146s). Except these Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft may also be ordered. Currently, the active fleet is comprised of Bombardier Dash 8 Q311 and Embraer ERJ-145 and Embraer ERJ-195.
