General information
This airline was born after Malayan Airlines was split in 2: Singapore Airlines and another carrier based in Kuala Lumpur what later became known as Malaysia Airlines. Singapore Airlines is the national air carrier of the Island country and is one of the biggest airlines in the World. It operates from its hub at Singapore's Changi International Airport, which is one of Southeast Asia's main international airports. Singapore Airlines will be the first airline to introduce the Airbus A380 "Super Jumbo".

Fleet
Singapore Airlines has very good safety and comfort reputation and has received multiple awards. In mid 2007, the Singapore Airlines fleet was composed of the following types of airplanes: Airbus A330, A340, A350, A380 and Boeing 747, 777 and 787. The entry into service of the "Super Jumbos" was delayed due to Airbus' internal organization problems, financial and technical problems. Singapore Airlines will also be among the first carriers to introduce the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787 "Dreamliner" models. Both aircraft types are direct competitors on the airliner market, but Singapore Airlines has decided to purchase both of them.
Frequent flyer program
Singapore Airlines' frequent flyer program is called "KrisFlyer" and it's identical with the reward program of SilkAir. Being part of the Star Alliance, Singapore Airlines has its reward program harmonized with other carriers. When flying with Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, Varig and others from the alliance, you can use your points earned with this company to obtain airfare reductions, bonuses. Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer frequent flyer program is also compatible with Virgin Atlantic, due to an agreement between the 2 companies. KrisFlyer has the following levels: KrisFlyer, KrisFlyer Elite Silver, KrisFlyer Elite Gold and there are 3 PPS Club levels too: PPS Club, Solitaire PPS Club, Solitaire PPS Club Life.
