General information
This airline is Turkey's flag carrier. It flies to 5 continents and it is one of the largest airlines in the Middle East. Turkish Airlines is among the fastest growing carriers in the World. Its number of passengers has grown from 17 million in 2006 to 22,5 million in 2008 and profits doubled from 2,23 billion USD to 4,5 billion USD between during the same period. It is a highly profitable carrier that has joined the Star Alliance in 2008, thus extending its capabilities through new partnerships.

Destinations
The destinations are in number of 158: 120 international and 38 domestic. Turkish Airlines flies primarily to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, most of Asia (including inner Asia, India, China and Japan, but less to southeast Asia), the USA and Canada, Brazil and South Africa, Nigeria, Senegal, as well as several places in Oceania. The airline is a major carrier between Asia and Europe. Transit tourism is feeding the airline more in recent years than it did in the past. Many Europeans and Asians travel between their continents with Turkish Airlines.
Fleet
133 airplanes were in service in mid November, 2009. Most airplanes are very new and are in great technical condition. The fleet overwhelmingly comprises of Airbus models, but there are Boeing 737 and long range Boeing 777s in service as well. The average age of the Turkish Airlines fleet was of 6,2 years in late 2009.
