Indonesia plane tickets & flights

Renowned for several of its often visited vacation destinations. Especially popular is the Island of Bali...

It might have crossed your mind to visit Indonesia and you might be wondering what possibilities exist for those wanting to get there and around... Well here's Plane Tickets Now's guide for you!

Domestic flights

Indonesia is an island country and there are plenty of flights between its larger islands.

International flights

Especially from Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali Island there are plenty of international flights.

A good way to approach Indonesia is through Singapore (which is an independent country on the tip of the Malaysian Peninsula). Garuda Indonesia, which is the national airline, has a hub there. Also many other airlines arrive to Indonesia from Singapore.

Airlines serving Indonesia

The most important airlines in this country are Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air. Presented in details below, here:

Garuda Indonesia

The flag carrier of Indonesia.

Has many hubs: Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Ngurah Rai Airport, Juanda International Airport, Sepinggan International Airport, Polonia International Airport and also at Singapore's international airport.

Focuses on the cities: Batam, Makassar, Manado, Padang, Palembang, Perth, Semarang, Yongyakarta.

Flies to 46 destinations in the countries: China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Australia and of course it also operated domestic routes within Indonesia.

Lion Air

Lion Air is officially called PT Lion Mentari Airlines and it is the country's largest private carrier. Flies to more domestic flights than any other airline.

Lion Air is a hybrid carrier, meaning that it combines traditional flight services with strong accent on cost reduction (similarly to the low cost airlines).

It is based in Jakarta where it has its only hub. From there it will directly take you to about 40 destinations.

Has a frequent flyer program too and it is expected that it will extend to further destinations (because in late 2009 it had a fleet of 43 airplanes and it already has a tremendous 152 ordered aircraft!).

Flies domestically to a large number of Indonesian airports and also operates flights to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Penang), Singapore, Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon), Saudi Arabia (Jeddah, Riyadh). It used to fly to Hong Kong, but flights have ceased.

Domestic Indonesian flights are to:  Ambon (Pattimura Airport), Banda Aceh (Sultan Iskandarmuda Airport), Balikpapan (Sepinggan International Airport), Banjarmasin (Syamsudin Noor Airport), Batam (Hang Nadim Airport), Bengkulu (Padang Kemiling Airport), Bima (Bima Airport), Denpasar (Ngurah Rai Airport), Fakfak (Fakfak Airport), Gorontalo (Jalaluddin Airport), Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport) Hub, Jambi (Sultan Thaha Airport), Jayapura (Sentani Airport), Kaimana (Kaimana Airport), Kendari (Wolter Monginsidi Airport), Kupang (El Tari Airport), Manado (Sam Ratulangi Airport), Mataram (Selaparang Airport), Medan (Polonia International Airport), Nabire (Nabire Airport), Padang (Minangkabau International Airport), Palembang (Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport), Palu (Mutiara Airport), Pangkal Pinang (Pangkal Pinang Airport), Pekanbaru (Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport), Pontianak (Supadio Airport), Semarang (Achmad Yani Airport), Surakarta (Adisumarmo International Airport), Sumbara (Sumbawa Besar Airport), Sorong (Sorong Airport), Surabaya (Juanda International Airport), Tahuna, Tarakan (Juwata Airport), Ternate (Babullah Airport), Tual, Ujung Pandang (Hasanuddin International Airport), Yogyakarta (Adisucipto International Airport).

Various other carriers

Australian airlines companies and many southeastern Asian companies operate flights to Indonesia. Jakarta International Airport is a large hub where you will find great direct and indirect connections with the rest of the World.
