Domestic flights Several airlines in Tanzania operate on internal routes. You will have adequate possibilities for reaching the country's most important regions. Be prepared for purchasing paper tickets locally, as modern online booking systems don't even exist in most cases.
International flights Mostly ensured by foreign airlines from Europe and other African countries.
Airlines serving Tanzania
Coastal Aviation Based in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Coastal Aviation operates since 1988 especially charter services, but also scheduled ones. The primary domestic destinations are: Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Grumeti, Kleins Camp, Kilwa Kisiwani, Kogatende, Mafia, Manyara, Mwanza, Pemba, Ruaha, Selous, Seronera, Tanga, Tarangire, Zanzibar. The only international destination was Kigali in Rwanda. The airline's slogan is "The flying safari company".
Fly East African/East African Air The airline's name might sound confusing. Officially it is "East African Air" - as company name, but as brand painted on their airplanes it's "Fly East African"... Domestic destinations include: Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Musoma, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Tabora and Zanzibar Island. International destinations: Nairobi, Bujumbura, Johannesburg and Kigali.
Precision Air Has a fleet of 10 airplanes that fly to 12 destinations. The main base and hub of the airline is Dar es Salaam's Julius Nyerere International Airport. Secondary hubs are at Kilimanjaro International Airport near Arusha and Mwanza Airport. Domestic destinations: Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Kigoma, Kilimanjaro, Musoma, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Tabora and Zanzibar Airport. Foreign destinations: Mombasa and Nairobi in Kenya and Entebbe in Uganda.
Regional Air Services Small regional airline base in Arusha, Tanzania. Operates primarily scheduled flights, but charters are also available. Scheduled services are operated to Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Manyara, Seronera, Grumeti and Kleins Camp. Charter destinations vary quite a lot, therefore we advise you to check the airline's current list.
Zan Air Domestic carrier based on Zanzibar Island. Destinations: Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Pemba, Saadani, Selous.
Various other carriers In addition to the local carriers there are several major African, Middle Eastern and European airlines connecting their countries to Mombasa and Dar es Salaam especially.
